Congratulations on a very important book. Anne and I have had a lot of fun reading through many paragraphs which recall our exciting adventures in Dili, before and after, which finally led to our IOC East Timor invitees to take part in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
We compliment you on the accuracy and consistency of the narrative, and we like the style. Anne has already mentioned our chance meeting with General Peter Cosgrove earlier this week.
Your story is one which deserves wide coverage and recognition for all your efforts and patience, the courage of our East Timor athletes, and as well, for the goodwill and sensitivity of individuals in important places like Kofi Anan, Alexander Downer, Ramos Horta and some important players including Juan Antonio Samaranch and Members of his Executive Board. My own family were particularly appreciative that this special event in Olympic history is now on the record.
Anne tells me you plan to be through Melbourne sometime in the future and we would look forward to catching up again.
